MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers announced today his appointment of Michael Schindhelm to the Waukesha County Circuit Court – Branch 11. The appointment will fill the vacancy being created by Judge William J. Domina’s retirement. Schindhelm will complete a term ending July 31, 2027.

“Michael Schindhelm has nearly two decades of experience as a prosecutor and is deeply committed to serving his community, and he will serve people of Waukesha County well in this new role,” said Gov. Evers.

Schindhelm is currently an Assistant United States Attorney in the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, where he prosecutes violent crime and narcotics cases. From 2012 to 2023, he served as an assistant district attorney in Milwaukee County, where he has experience prosecuting a broad range of crimes. He has completed over 120 trials to verdict, including 28 homicide cases. Earlier in his career, he was an assistant district attorney in Fond du Lac County and the Queens County District Attorney’s Office in New York.

Schindhelm grew up in Mukwonago and lives near Hartland with his family. He is a graduate of The Ohio State University and St. John’s University School of Law.

“I am grateful to Gov. Evers for entrusting me to serve the people of Waukesha County as a circuit court judge,” said Schindhelm. “I want to thank my wife, Jenn, and our children for their support. I also want to thank my former colleagues at the U.S. Attorney’s Office and at the District Attorney’s Offices in Milwaukee and Queens, NY. My career as a prosecutor has been defined by fighting for justice, and I am ready to bring that hard-earned sense of fairness to the bench in my home county.”
