MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers announced today his appointment of Cheryl Brehmer as the new Winnebago County Coroner. This appointment fills a vacancy created by the resignation of Barry Busby.

Evers. “Through her prior service to the county as both a Deputy Coroner and Chief Deputy Coroner, Ms. Brehmer possesses both the medical knowledge and the compassion necessary to lead the coroner’s office.”

Brehmer, a Winnebago County native, has worked in the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office since 2012. She has investigated over 1,000 on-scene deaths and has an average of 84 on-call hours per week. She serves on Winnebago County’s Child Death Review Team, the Overdose Fatality Review Team, and assists in training the Victim Crisis Response Team.
