Garden District tree lighting and Winter Wonderland display set for December 3

Alderman Scott Spiker invites residents to join him in kicking off the holiday season in the Garden District at the 8th Annual Tree Lighting on Tuesday, December 3 at 6 p.m. The event will take place at 6th and Norwich (one block south of Howard), and include a program followed by the tree lighting ceremony.

The event will include holiday snacks, crafts, songs of the season and a visit from Santa. The tree lighting also marks the beginning of the Garden District’s Winter Wonderland. This festive showcase (running Dec. 3 – Jan. 3) includes 140 lighted displays totaling 30,000 lights for families and children of all ages to enjoy. The displays include original art pieces from local high school students and other community members.

Alderman Spiker looks forward to enjoying the holiday season with residents. “This time of year is about coming together and celebrating the seasons. I encourage all area residents to stop by the tree lighting to enjoy treats, songs, holiday displays and a great evening with neighbors,” he said.
