Fourth Episode of Brewers “The Firemen” Available Now

Episode Provides a Look into Devin Williams’ Return to the Mound

MILWAUKEE – The latest and final episode of the Milwaukee Brewers series, “The Firemen,” is available today. The in-house produced docuseries provides an in-depth look into the essential and pivotal role of the bullpen, a collective who through the Brewers player development program and coaching have become a source of strength for the team over the past several seasons. The series dives into what it is like to hold one of the most unique roles in sports and what it takes, mentally and physically, to make it as a Major League reliever.

The most recent episode provides fans with an inside look into two-time All Star and Reliever of the Year Devin Williams’ return to the mound and the long road to recovery after missing the first half of the 2024 season due to stress fractures. The episode dives into how the reliever dealt with overcoming the adversity that comes with injuries and the rehabilitation process with the help of the Brewers Athletic Training team.

Special guest Theresa Lau, Major League Assistant Athletic Trainer/Physical Therapist, joins the episode to provide further insight into Williams’ recovery and the process of helping players who may face similar adversity.

This episode completes The Firemen documentary series, the second of its kind produced in long form style by the Brewers in-house production team. Last year’s series, “The Freshmen” gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at life as a prospect and the journey toward earning a Major League Spot.Catch up on the Series:

  • The first installment of the series introduced the bullpen giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at the camaraderie shared and the challenges faced.
  • A special episode focused on relief pitcher Hoby Milner as he spoke about his personal challenges with anxiety and mental health, and how it is amplified in his role in the bullpen. He spoke about the process he went through to learn more about himself and how best to manage it so that he can perform at a Major League level.
  • The second installment provided an update on Devin Williams and how his injury affected the bullpen in the short-term while giving a closer look to how the bullpen adapts and embraces the next-man up attitude while dealing with the adversity of the situation.
  • The third installment highlighted pitcher Bryan Hudson’s development in the Brewers bullpen and early success throughout the first half of the season along with a look into the early stage of Devin Williams’ return.
