“For the Love of Wisconsin Women, Gail’s Law is Now the Law of the Land”
–Rep. Robyn Vining Commends Signing of Breast Cancer Screening Bill
MADISON – Today Governor Tony Evers signed 2025 Senate Bill 264 into law, which requires health insurance to cover diagnostic and supplemental breast cancer screenings. Rep. Robyn Vining (D-Wauwatosa) attended the bill signing ceremony at the Wisconsin State Capitol and released the following statement:
“Wisconsin Women deserve quality, affordable healthcare – and that includes access to breast cancer screenings. Gail’s law will save lives, and is a win for Wisconsin women and our families.
“I commend Governor Evers for signing this bill into law, and I want to thank Gail Zeamer, and her family, for advocating to expand access to breast cancer screenings. Gail’s daughters, Sophie and Claudia, were brilliant speakers at the press conference today, and I am so sorry Gail isn’t here with us to see the bill signed into law. I want to extend my gratitude to every advocate across Wisconsin who fought for the healthcare we deserve. You fought a fight worth fighting, and you didn’t give up until you won. Thank you.
“In Wisconsin it is written on the ceiling of the Governor’s conference room, ‘The Will of the People is the Law of the Land.’ Today those words shone above Gail’s daughters Sophie and Claudia and they spoke, and above Governor Evers as he signed the bill into law.
“At long last, for the love of Wisconsin women, Gail’s Law is now the law of the land. Forward, together.”
Rep. Vining represents the 13th Assembly District, which includes Elm Grove, and parts of Wauwatosa and Brookfield. For more information visit Rep. Vining’s website here.
