Florentine Opera postpones French Double Bill and Bronzeville Boheme, introduces 2020-21 “Interlude”

Milwaukee, WI – “Operas require so many more people than you see on the stage, and most of the operas scheduled for our 2020-21 Season of the Ensemble require an army of talent on and offstage – larger casts, more musicians and adult and children’s chorus,” said General Director and CEO Maggey Oplinger. “We want all of them back on stage, and we miss your face….but we can wait. After all, safety comes first – always.”

Here’s What Has Moved to Next Season:

When we return to the Marcus Performaning Arts Center, our audience will delight in the newly renovated Uihlein Hall, to applaud the cast and creative teams who will have waited an extra year to build and perform these beautiful productions.

What do patrons need to do?
Mainstage tickets are automatically moved to next season. Patrons may log into their Florentine Account to view their tickets at https://am.ticketmaster.com/florentineopera/#/.
Alternatively, patrons may request a credit or choose to donate the cost of tickets. Ticket Holders may contact Stephanie at tickets@florentineopera.org or 414-291-5700 x.224 with questions.

Tickets to programs remaining in this season (Florentine Presents, Spotlight with Eric Ferring, and Little Mahagonny/Baumgartner Studio Artist Showcase) will be honored in person or virtually.

Welcome to the 2020-21 Interlude
Our commitment to you is artistic excellence and reliability. We plan on singing our hearts out in other ways! Wait til you hear what we have planned for you, as we explore what opera can be without the constraints of a theater or an audience. Where can we go, what can we experience, and how can we bring the world to you at home and socially distanced?

Our Virtual Performances for This Season:

We’re adding Liederabend: An Evening of Song, which allows us to share some wonderfully intimate and fun pieces with you that would traditionally have been performed in a living room. Guess where you’ll find us? Expect a house tour with our hosts, and a guest appearance for some special 4-voice, 2-piano pieces.

We are ready for a getaway, that’s for sure! Get to know our friends and explore their towns, as they share repertoire and favorite haunts in new digital Voyages. These wonderfully unexpected performances will be filmed on location abroad. Escape to somewhere unexpectedly familiar, through new eyes and sounds. And who knows? Maybe a wine pairing or two could add to your enjoyment.

Our Live Performances for This Season:

Little Mahagonny and the Baumgartner Studio Artist Showcase has been postponed to May 7. As we explore this 30 minute Cabaret piece paired with some of our favorite scenes exploring “the grass is always greener”, join us as we return for one glorious performance with a small orchestra and cast. Little Mahagonny and the Studio Artist Showcase will either be safely performed in the newly renovated Uihlein Hall at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts with socially-distanced seating or outdoors.

And because we had such success with our late summer and fall outdoor performances, you can expect to see more Garden Performances this summer.

You can be confident the show will go on. We will continue to surprise and delight our patrons with our artistic excellence.

It’s all here:
