There’s a new addition to one of We Energies’ peregrine falcon nest boxes — the first egg of the nesting season has been laid at the Oak Creek Power Plant. Proud parents Essity and Joel are watching over their new arrival. This is their first year nesting together.

Now’s the perfect time to tune into the live nest box cameras. More eggs should be laid over the next few days.

The parents will take turns incubating their egg(s) over the coming weeks. If all goes well, we could see the first chicks in a little over a month.

Look for all of the egg-citing updates on X, Facebook and Instagram.

Peregrine falcon program

We Energies and Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) began installing peregrine falcon nest boxes on power plants in the early ’90s. So far, 453 peregrine falcons have hatched at We Energies and WPS facilities — that’s 20% of all peregrine falcons born in Wisconsin.

This program is another way We Energies and WPS are building a bright, sustainable future. From helping endangered animals and restoring natural habitats, to building new solar facilities and reducing carbon emissions, we are committed to a cleaner future.
