First Lady Evers Announces the Wisconsin 19th Amendment Celebration Committee’s New “Women Who Inspire” Nominee

MADISON — First Lady Kathy Evers today announced that “Women Who Inspire,” a program of the Committee to Celebrate the Centennial Anniversary of Wisconsin’s Ratification of the 19th Amendment, will highlight Deanna Singh, Chief Change Agent, Flying Elephant, LLC, Brookfield.

“Wisconsin’s suffragists were strong, entrepreneurial women who pushed to overcome barriers 100 years ago,” First Lady Evers who chairs the Committee. “It is a privilege to commemorate their role in a true turning point in American History, and it is a privilege to honor women who continue to inspire and work for parity for women today.”

Singh was nominated by State Representative Robyn Vining as an inspiration to all who want to be agents of change in their work, lives, and communities.

“To be in the presence of Deanna is to be caught up in a call to a new, better vision for our cities, our state, and our world,” said Rep. Vining. “Deanna lives her life like she delivers her speeches: exciting, fun, energetic, brilliant, kind, and a call to action to unlock our way truly forward to a better world.”

In addition to founding Flying Elephant, LLC, and the Flying Elephant Foundation, Singh sits on the national board of LIFT and College Possible. She has been recognized by the Milwaukee Business Journal as one of the community’s most influential 40 under 40 leaders, and the 8 Under 40 to Watch for the University of Wisconsin School of Business. She is also the recipient of the United Way’s Philanthropic Five Award, and the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Leadership Development Hero Award.

Committee members were invited to nominate and interview women who inspire them to feature on the Committee website with the intent of inspiring a broad bipartisan audience and bringing more diversity in terms of race, ethnicity, age, geography, background, and identity to the women’s rights conversation. All nominees that will be featured on the website were submitted by members of the Committee and will be featured on a rotating basis leading up to the 100th anniversary of enactment of the 19th Amendment in August.

The website separately highlights notable Wisconsin social activists and trailblazers, such as Vel Phillips, Ada Deer, Justice Shirley Abrahamson, Belle Case LaFollette and others with links to outside resources.

The 19th Amendment Committee was formed by Executive Order 19​ on April 11, 2019 and is comprised of Wisconsin’s women in elected and appointed state office and other women leaders and experts.
