Festival City Symphony Presents “Harmonies of the Heartland”
Milwaukee, February 13, 2025 — Milwaukee’s oldest performing symphony orchestra, Festival City Symphony, invites you to experience the sweeping romanticism of “Harmonies of the Heartland” on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 2 p.m. at the Bradley Symphony Center, 212 W. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee. This FREE concert will showcase the symphony’s masterful performance of iconic works by Samuel Barber, George Walker, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, and Howard Hanson.
- Kicking off the concert is Walker’s Lyric for Strings, a piece celebrated for its vibrant and resonant melodies.
- Next, audiences will be treated to Coleridge-Taylor’s spirited Ballade, which leads into Barber’s deeply moving Second Essay, renowned for its emotional depth and intensity.
- Concluding the program, Hanson’s lush and sweeping Romantic Symphony promises a grand finale of expressive power and rich harmonies.
This concert is Festival City Symphony’s annual “Girl Scout Day at the Symphony,” welcoming Girl Scout troops from across Wisconsin. Girl Scouts, troop leaders, family members, and any other interested patrons are invited to arrive early for the pre-concert “Meet the Musicians” presentation at 1:30 p.m. hosted by music educator Lynn Roginske, featuring instrument demonstrations by members of the orchestra.
