Families from Milwaukee, Wauwatosa to share their Children’s Wisconsin stories on 96.5 WKLH during the 26th annual Miracle Marathon May 16-17
MILWAUKEE — Families from Milwaukee and Wauwatosa will share their Children’s Wisconsin story on 96.5 WKLH during this year’s 26th annual WKLH Miracle Marathon for Children’s Wisconsin presented by Mars Family Foundation. The two-day, 36-hour radiothon on 96.5 WKLH airs Thursday and Friday, May 16-17. Miracle Marathon is one of the largest community-wide fundraisers for Children’s Wisconsin and has raised more than $29 million for Children’s Wisconsin since it began.
- Germelle Scott, 8, Milwaukee (sickle cell anemia) – Germelle was diagnosed with the most severe form of sickle cell disease when he was just one month old and had three surgeries at the MACC Fund Center at Children’s Wisconsin by the age of two. By age five, he was in organ failure and needed a bone marrow transplant.
- Lottie Guhl, 1, Wauwatosa (premature birth) – Lottie was born at just 29 weeks weighing just just over two pounds and was cared for in Children’s NICU for nine weeks. Her parents are grateful not only for the care Lottie received; but for the care and support their entire family received as well.
These families are two of the more than 40 families sharing their experience with the goal of raising funds to support Children’s Wisconsin.
The WKLH Miracle Marathon features patient families, care providers, leaders and staff sharing stories that bring to light the numerous Children’s Wisconsin programs and services that impact the health and wellness of the 6.5 million connections Children’s has with kids and families each year. The Morning ‘KLH’s Dave Luczak and Dorene Michaels will host the event. The community can tune in to 96.5 WKLH in southeastern Wisconsin and listen online at WKLH.com.
