DVO’s Woes: Outbursts, Empty Bills, and Plummeting Poll Numbers

Last Friday, in the midst of the government shutdown, WI-03 Rep. Derrick Van introduced a bill to award Trump with the Congressional Gold Medal. On Monday, in a toss-up district, polling numbers came out revealing that only 36% of his constituents believe he is doing enough to end the shutdown.

MADISON, Wis. — As the government is on the verge of being shut down for three weeks, Derrick Van Orden is spending his time not offering solutions, but trying to secure the Congressional Gold Medal for Donald Trump after the president rightfully didn’t win a Nobel Peace Prize. Between this, a term-and-a-half of public temper tantrums, tens of thousands of unintelligible tweets, and continuously going after his constituents’ health care, it’s no wonder that Van Orden’s poll numbers are headed in the wrong direction.

A new poll showed Van Orden’s favorability at just 38%, and only 36% of voters believe he’s doing enough to end the government shutdown.

“As we’ve watched Derrick Van Orden lose touch with reality over the last few years, Wisconsinites in the 3rd Congressional District have lost touch with him,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson Philip Shulman. “DC Derrick seems more concerned with scoring ‘likes’ online and keeping delicate Don’s ego happy than he does with doing his job — and that’s why the third district is returning the favor and abandoning him.”
