Downer Classic bike races set for Saturday, June 30
Important notification from Alderman Nik Kovac
The Downer Classic, one of the most famous urban criterium courses in the country, is happening this Saturday, June 30. Global in reach and extremely local in flavor, the Café Hollander Downer Classic, presented by ISCorp, promises to be one of the highlights of cycling in Wisconsin this summer.
The full day of racing also features a popular kids race, the famous Ben’s Cyclery “Super Prime,” as well as a full slate of racing all afternoon and evening. Live music, food, beverages and family fun – including face painting and the Lake Park Adventure Rock wall – complement the twilight pro-race that promises to bring pro-teams and riders from around the world.
The Historic Downer Avenue Business Improvement District (BID#41) will be hosting the Downer Classic.
“The Downer Avenue BID is once again bringing a world class bike race to our front porches. Let’s get out there to cheer on the cyclists, meet our neighbors, and support our neighborhood Main Street,” said Alderman Nik Kovac.
Please note several streets in the area will be closed to traffic and parking to keep racers safe.
A complete list of activities, course map, and information about street closures can be found on the BID website www.downeravenue.com.
