Cross Country Competes in Second Race of the Fall in Madison Friday
Parrell paces men's side, Coon finishes first for MU for women
MADISON, Wisconsin – The Marquette University cross country teams competed in their second race of the fall at the Badger Classic in Madison on Friday.
“The teams both looked good, times were slow because of the heat, humidity, long grass and slightly long course and the high training load,” Associate Head Cross Country Coach Jack Hackett said. “I’ve been viewing this as the last meet of our preseason and the real season starts when we go to Notre Dame in two weeks.”
Emma Coon finished 10th in the women’s 6k with a time of 22:46.3 to lead MU.
Four Golden Eagles finished 13-16 on the women’s side with Sadie Kibelstis (24:01.7), Elise Fischer (24:03.4), Maggie Jortberg (24:23.8) and Daylee Braden (24:26.1).
“Overall, there were some great performances and for many of our newcomers, this was the first chance to run the full race distance,” Hackett said. “Overall a great experience and we are excited to build from here.”
