County Supervisor David Sartori Proposes Changes to GO Pass

Over 25,000 GO Passes are in use by Milwaukee County residents.

MILWAUKEE – County Supervisor David Sartori has proposed an amendment to the County’s 2017 Recommended Budget that would alter the annual cost for GO Pass users.

Sartori’s proposal would increase the County Executive’s proposed annual fee for the GO Pass from $5 to $25, alter the proposed reduced fares, and decrease the tax levy by $438,325.

Sartori released the following statement on his proposed amendment:

“Anyone with a permanent disability should be eligible for the GO Pass if they pass the means test. Those with temporary disability may also be eligible if they pass the means test on a year-to-year basis.

“Milwaukee County residents age 65 and over should be eligible if they pass the means test. Just because someone is disabled and over age 65, like me, that should not be reason to have a GO Pass if they have the means to pay for a regular bus pass.

“Residents age 65 and older who qualify for a GO Pass should be eligible for a “senior rate” of approximately half the normal fare or $1.10 per ride.

“For those who would quality for the GO Pass, I’m proposing an annual fee of $25 instead of the $5 annual fee, and elimination of the $.25 per ride fare.”

Over 25,000 GO Passes are in use by Milwaukee County residents.
