County Board Elects Nicholson as First Vice Chairwoman
Supervisor Nicholson was first elected to the Milwaukee County Board in 2016
MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors elected Supervisor Marcelia Nicholson as its First Vice Chairwoman Monday at a special organizational meeting to start the 2018-2020 term.
“I want to thank my colleagues for electing me as their First Vice Chairwoman of the Milwaukee County Board. As a young working woman of color who grew up in the 53206 ZIP code, I ran for office because I wanted to advocate for and fight on behalf of those who are too often left behind by the governing process. Milwaukee is a diverse county and our leadership team must reflect the diversity of the communities we serve.
Supervisor Nicholson was first elected to the Milwaukee County Board in 2016 and re-elected for a second term on April 4.
Nicholson represents several Milwaukee communities including Sherman Park, Washington Park, parts of the eastern portion of downtown Milwaukee, from Cathedral Square to the Third Ward, as well as Franklin Heights, and Metcalf Park.
Nicholson is a proud graduate of Milwaukee Public Schools and UW-Milwaukee, and has been a public school educator since 2012.
