Congresswoman Gwen Moore Applauds U.S. Supreme Court Ruling on Domestic Violence Restraining Orders
In today’s United States v. Rahimi decision, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the 1994 federal law which prevents individuals with domestic violence restraining orders from possessing firearms. In response, she released the following statement:
Abusers with domestic violence restraining orders should not have access to guns. Survivors of abuse have the right to be safe and live without the threat of gun violence. I can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that survivors have this protection, and this important legislation is upheld by the highest Court.”
