Comptroller’s Office Receives Certificate of Excellence from Government Finance Officers Association for Second Year in a Row
The City of Milwaukee’s Office of the Comptroller has great news to report that increases the City’s visibility of transparent financial reporting. The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the City of Milwaukee for its annual comprehensive financial report for the year ended December 31, 2022. This is now the second year in a row that the City has received this honor. The report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
“This is a tremendous achievement by this office for a second year in a row. I am so excited for our office and the City as a whole that we have achieved this goal and are positioned to continue achieving it for years to come. I appreciate everyone on our team that has put in the needed effort and dedication to complete our 2022 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report and submit for our second award from GFOA. This award signifies that our financial statements are robust, transparent, and accurate,” said City of Milwaukee Comptroller Aycha Sawa. “We are so excited to announce this to our community and any interested party who wants a view into our City’s finances.” The report can be viewed on the Comptroller’s website at https://city.milwaukee.gov/Comptroller/AnnualComprehensiveFinancial.
