Community Block Grant funding input needed at public hearings
Alderman Russell W. Stamper, II, chair of the Community and Economic Development Committee, is inviting Milwaukee residents and representatives of community organizations and non-profits to attend two public hearings this week to help prioritize funding proposals for the 2026 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.
The hearings before the Community and Economic Development Committee will provide an opportunity for public comment on proposed funding categories for the 2026 Community Development Funding Allocation Plan (FAP).The hearings are as follows:
· 6 p.m. TODAY – Monday, October 20 at Martin Luther King, Jr. Library, 2901 N. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr. (agenda here)
· 6 p.m. Tuesday, October 21 at Mitchell Street Library, 906 W. Historic Mitchell St. (agenda here)
The FAP incorporates strategic direction for the following grants:
• Community Development Block Grant
• HOME Investment Partnerships
• Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG) and
• Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA covers the 4 County Milwaukee Metropolitan Area).
The Funding Allocation Plan is available to the public and can be accessed on the CDGA website at www.Milwaukee.gov/CDGA.
Written comments on the 2026 Funding Allocation Plan can be submitted during the public comment period of October 3, 2025 to November 4, 2025 to: Mr. Mario Higgins; Director, Community Development Grants Administration; City Hall – 200 E. Wells Street, Room 606; Milwaukee, WI. 53202
