City of Milwaukee and Milwaukee County Continue Emergency Food Drive Following November FoodShare Update

By - Nov 7th, 2025 02:12 pm

The City of Milwaukee and Milwaukee County are grateful to Governor Tony Evers the Wisconsin Department of Health Services for releasing November FoodShare benefits to Wisconsin residents. This action will provide immediate relief for thousands of families across our community, many of whom have been facing a week of uncertainty about how they would feed their families.

At the same time, the City and County recognize that this remains an evolving situation. The federal shutdown continues, now the longest in U.S. history, and there is no clarity about FoodShare benefits for December and beyond. Local food pantries are reporting record demand, a stark reminder of how many residents continue to face food insecurity.

Because of this uncertainty, the City-County Emergency Food Drive will continue as planned, especially as we enter the holiday season. The drive, powered by our partners Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin and Nourish MKE, is helping to stabilize families now, while also preparing for the possibility of additional disruptions in the weeks and months ahead.

So far, thanks to the generous support of individuals, businesses, and community partners, the initiative has collected nearly $87,000 in monetary donations, the equivalent of more than 250,000 meals. It has also gathered over 5,100 pounds of food across all sites.

We are deeply grateful to every resident, organization, faith community, school, business, and neighborhood group that has stepped up. Your support shows the strength and kindness of the Milwaukee community and demonstrates what’s possible when the City and County work together with our partners to meet urgent needs.

The City and County encourage anyone who is able to continue donating, whether by contributing food, giving online, or supporting their local pantry. Every act of generosity helps our neighbors and strengthens Milwaukee during this period of uncertainty.

For online donation links, a list of donation sites, or additional community food resources, visit the City of Milwaukee Food Drive webpage or the Milwaukee County Food Assistance webpage.

Milwaukee is a community that takes care of one another, and together we will continue to make sure families have what they need.
