City Attorney Evan Goyke Announces the Hiring of Former Deputy City Attorney Mary Schanning

Today, Milwaukee’s newly elected City Attorney Evan Goyke announced the hiring of Attorney Mary Schanning to fill a currently vacant Deputy City Attorney position.

“I am thrilled to welcome Attorney Mary Schanning back to the City Attorney’s Office. Mary brings incredible experience in municipal and real estate law,” Goyke said. “She has worked as an Assistant City Attorney as well as a Deputy City Attorney in Milwaukee, where she oversaw some of the most transformative real estate projects in our City. We have major housing and real estate issues to address in our community and I can think of no better lawyer to bring into the City Attorney’s Office to help lead those efforts.”

Shanning earned her Juris Doctor degree from William & Mary Law School. She currently a member of the Board of Governors of the State Bar of Wisconsin. Most recently, she served as the Chief Administrative Officer and General Council at Milwaukee World Festival. Schanning will begin her new duties in the City Attorney’s office on May 6th.
