MILWAUKEE – In a statement released Thursday, County Board Chairwoman Marcelia Nicholson praised Governor Tony Evers for his emergency order requiring facemasks indoors and called upon the local health officers in Milwaukee County to commit to enforcing the mandate,

“Thank you, Governor Evers, for listening to the public health experts who have been telling us that the most important thing we can do to limit the spread of Covid-19 is to wear a facemask. The governor’s emergency order empowers local public health officers to protect public health by enforcing the facemask requirement in their communities. I urge all municipal public health officers in Milwaukee County to publicly declare that they will enforce the governor’s order,” said Nicholson.

Last week, the Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution authored by Chairwoman Nicholson that called upon all Milwaukee County municipalities to adopt facemask requirements and encouraged the Governor of Wisconsin to enact a statewide facemask policy.
