Carthage College Adds bachelor’s Degrees in Human Resources
KENOSHA, Wis. – Carthage College has added human resources as a major within its School of Business and Economics, adding to its list of comprehensive programs that prepare students for careers in business.
Human resource professionals shape the workforce for businesses of every size in every industry. Starting in the fall, Carthage will offer human resources majors the opportunity to build a strong foundation in key HR principles, such as recruiting, compensation, employment law, and strategic planning through hands-on projects, simulations, and internships.
“Modern HR professionals require more than just administrative skills,” says Joseph Tenuta, Rogers Palmer Distinguished Professor in Business. “It demands professionals who can think strategically, analyze data, manage change, and contribute to overall business objectives.”
Students can choose between a Bachelor of Arts (60 credits) or a more intensive Bachelor of Science (72 credits). Both degrees were developed using guidelines from the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects the employment of human resources specialists to grow 6% from 2024 to 2034, which is faster than the average for all occupations.
Incoming Carthage students seeking to major in human resources can also compete for School of Business and Economics scholarships. Two full-tuition scholarships are offered each year.
