Capping the Price of Insulin in Wisconsin
"Diabetic people need insulin no differently than you and I need food and water."
Fitchburg – Representative Jimmy Anderson along with Senator Hansen and Representatives Billings and Shankland are introducing legislation to cap the price of insulin at $100 per 30-day supply. Rep. Anderson released the following statement regarding the bill:
“Diabetic people need insulin no differently than you and I need food and water. Yet, up to 25% of diabetic people are forced to ration or altogether skip vital doses because they cannot afford their prescribed amount. With drug manufacturers inflating prices and insurance companies demanding unreasonable copays, it is time for the Legislature to step in and ensure that no Wisconsinite unnecessarily loses their life because they cannot afford their insulin.
“I’m proud to author this bill in the Assembly because I know what it’s like to battle insurance companies to get the care you need. As long as I’m in the Legislature, I will always fight for Wisconsinites looking for basic fairness when it comes to healthcare access and affordability.”
