Bryant Junco Announces Candidacy for Milwaukee’s 3rd Aldermanic District
Milwaukee, WI: Bryant Junco, a passionate community advocate and longtime 3rd District resident, has officially announced his candidacy for Alderman. Mr. Junco’s campaign centers on a bold commitment to improving public safety, reducing crime, and creating safer streets for every resident of the district.
Mr. Junco’s plan to enhance public safety includes strengthening partnerships with law enforcement, investing in crime prevention programs, improving street safety, and engaging the community. He understands that safe neighborhoods start with a collaborative effort. “This isn’t just about adding more patrols or making policy changes–it’s about building trust, fostering community connections, and addressing the root causes of crime,” Mr. Junco says.
Mr. Junco is calling on residents to join his campaign for safer, stronger neighborhoods. “Together, we can create a district where everyone feels secure and supported,” he said.

Fighting crime and focusing improving public safety will not reduce the impression of unsafe streets. Crime rates are significantly down in all areas (that’s what happens when you reduce poverty.) However, corporate news media, continues to harp on high crime and unsafe streets. All the gated communities are home safety packages don’t make people feel safer. It is the fear generated by corporate news media (if it bleeds it leads mentality) that drives the fear. If Junco were really interested in improving public safety–actually the appearance of public safety–he should focus on the issues that truly drive the fear. How about focusing on reducing poverty like the school to prison pipeline; or addressing the shortage of affordable, safe housing stock including going after landlords’ failure to maintain their properties. How about addressing the mental health and addiction crises; or ensuring every child has the tools–including breakfast and lunch–they need to be successful in school. There are so many issues that, were they addressed would actually reduce crime. Dragging out the updated version of the old “tough on crime,” serves no one by the police union. If I were still a resident of the 3rd aldermanic (had to leave because of the lack of affordable, accessible housing) I would support a different candidate. Joanthan Brostoff deserves a better legacy than another tired tough on crime candidate.
