Bronzeville Week Celebration Set for August 1 – 8, 2026

The City of Milwaukee’s annual celebration of African-American culture, history, art, commerce, and entertainment will take place August 1 – 8, 2026 when the 2026 Bronzeville Week convenes, hosted by Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs. A file adopted today by the full Common Council set the dates for the annual celebration.

Bronzeville Week, a formal City of Milwaukee-sanctioned event and celebration heading into its 16th full year, was earlier recommended for approval by the Community and Economic Development Committee. Since its inception, Bronzeville Week has attracted a growing following in the community, thanks to a diverse array of performances, cultural events, and activities throughout the week.

“Bronzeville Week is truly a celebration of the outstanding cultural expression that the Bronzeville District and Milwaukee have to offer,” Alderwoman Coggs said. “This week of festivities takes a village to produce, and I want to thank all the City staff, local businesses, artists, community groups, volunteers, and other stakeholders that help make it a reality. I look forward to another vibrant Bronzeville Week this summer.”

The Bronzeville Cultural and Entertainment District is a redevelopment initiative by the City of Milwaukee, drawing inspiration from the historic Bronzeville of Milwaukee’s past. Its mission is to revitalize the neighborhood where African-American culture has deep roots and to foster economic growth in this predominantly African-American community.
