Bronzeville Center for the Arts Launches Search for Executive Director

MILWAUKEE – The Bronzeville Center for the Arts (BCA) has engaged Bridge Partners to support its efforts to hire the organization’s first executive director. Bridge Partners, based in New York, is an executive search firm with expertise in leading inclusive executive searches.

“The BCA’s executive director will join the organization at an extremely exciting time,” said Kristen Hardy, a Milwaukee attorney and president of the Bronzeville Center for the Arts board. “With two major developments underway, the weeks, months and years ahead will be spent defining a shared community vision for our future home, developing programming, and building out operations. It is essential that we find an experienced, skilled leader who can help bring our vision to fruition.”

The executive director will also be responsible for overseeing the management of the Center and hiring and directing staff on day-to-day operations, including exhibitions, programming, and the safety and well-being of visitors, artists, and staff. Additionally, the executive director will work with the Board and its committees on strategy, operations, and policy matters.

ABOUT BRONZEVILLE CENTER FOR THE ARTS’ DEVELOPMENTS

• 507 W. North Avenue: In Fall 2022, construction will begin on BCA’s first development in Bronzeville. The $1 million, 3,500 square foot building is designed by Quorum Architects. Emem Group is overseeing the construction and anticipates a Summer 2023 completion. The BCA’s North Avenue development will be home to a gallery, workshop space, and BCA offices.
• 2312 N. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive: The BCA has made tremendous progress toward realizing its vision for a destination arts center in the heart of Bronzeville through the purchase of a 3.4-acre parcel on the northeast corner of North Avenue and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. The BCA is working with Emem Group as Owner’s Representative and international museum consultant Lord Cultural Resources to transform the site into a campus to house their collection and create programming space as well as a public plaza and garden.
