Brewers Name Minor League Players and Pitchers of the Month for July

Adams and Chourio Named Players of the Month; Rodríguez Selected as Pitcher of the Month

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Brewers have named infielder Luke Adams and outfielder Jackson Chourio as co-Minor League Players of the Month and right-handed pitcher Carlos Rodríguez as Minor League Pitcher of the Month for July.

The Brewers also named infielder Dylan O’Rae and outfielder Yophery Rodríguez as co-Complex League Players of the Month and left-handed pitcher Anthony Flores as Complex League Pitcher of the Month.

Adams, 19, batted .310 (18-for-58) with 5 doubles, 2 HR, 11 RBI, 20 runs, 19 walks and 8 stolen bases in 18 games with Class-A Carolina in July. He carried a .500 on-base percentage and .500 slugging percentage for a 1.000 OPS.

Selected in the 12th round of the 2022 First-Year Player Draft, Adams tied for the Carolina League lead in walks (19) in July and ranked among leaders in on-base percentage (2nd, .500), runs (T2nd, 20), OPS (5th, 1.000) and batting average (8th, .310).

Chourio, 19, hit .388 (33-for-85) with 6 doubles, 2 triples, 6 HR, 20 RBI and 9 stolen bases in 19 games with Double-A Biloxi in July. He reached base at a .447 clip and posted a .718 slugging percentage and 1.165 OPS.

Ranked as the No. 2 overall prospect in baseball by MLB Pipeline, Chourio led the Southern League in total bases (61) in July and ranked among leaders in hits (2nd, 33), home runs (T2nd, 6), runs (T2nd, 24), slugging percentage (3rd, .718), stolen bases (3rd, 9), triples (T3rd, 2), batting average (4th, .388), RBI (5th, 20) and OPS (5th, 1.165).

Carlos Rodríguez, 21, went 2-1 with a 0.98 ERA (18.1ip, 2er) and 24 strikeouts over 4 starts for Double-A Biloxi in July. He worked 5.0 innings and allowed 1 run or fewer in 3 of the 4 starts, including tossing 5.0 scoreless innings with 9 strikeouts on July 15 vs. Rocket City.

Opponents batted just .152 (10-for-66) against Rodríguez for the month, as he posted a 0.93 WHIP.

O’Rae, 19, hit .429 (27-for-63) with 3 doubles, a triple, 12 RBI, 23 runs and 10 stolen bases in 17 games with the Rookie ACL Brewers in July. He posted a .529 on-base percentage, as he drew 18 walks in 84 plate appearances.

The 17-year-old Yophery Rodríguez, who was Milwaukee’s co-Minor League Player of the Month for June, posted a .905 OPS in July, connecting for 4 HR with 17 RBI in 20 games for Rookie DSL Brewers 1.

Flores, 18, went 1-0 with a 1.93 ERA (18.2ip, 4er) and 24 strikeouts in 4 starts for Rookie DSL Brewers 1 in July.
