Brewers Name Minor League Player and Pitcher of the Month for August

Pratt Named Player of the Month; DeBerry Selected as Pitcher of the Month

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Brewers have named infielder Cooper Pratt as Minor League Player of the Month and right-handed pitcher Jaron DeBerry as Minor League Pitcher of the Month for August.

The Brewers also named outfielder Kenny Fenelon as Complex League Player of the Month and left-handed pitcher Daniel García as Complex League Pitcher of the Month.

Pratt, who turned 21 on August 18, batted .293/.396/.446 (27-for-92) with 5 doubles, 3 HR, 18 RBI, 16 runs, 7 SB and an .842 OPS in 26 games for Double-A Biloxi in August.

Ranked as Milwaukee’s No. 3 prospect and the No. 51 overall prospect by MLB Pipeline, Pratt was among Southern League leaders in runs (T4th, 16), RBI (5th, 18), walks (5th, 16), hits (T6th, 27), SLG (7th, .446), stolen bases (T7th, 7), OPS (8th, .842), total bases (8th, 41), OBP (9th, .396) and batting average (10th, .293) for the month.

DeBerry, 23, went 2-0 with a 1.61 ERA (28ip, 5er) and 29 strikeouts in 5 starts for Biloxi in August. In his first month at the Double-A level, DeBerry led the Southern League in WHIP (0.82) and opponent batting average (.158) and ranked among leaders in ERA (4th, 1.61), strikeouts (6th, 29) and innings pitched (7th, 28.0).

Selected by the Brewers in the third round of the 2024 First-Year Player Draft out of Dallas Baptist University, DeBerry earned Southern League Pitcher of the Week honors from August 18-24 after allowing just 4 hits with 9 strikeouts and no walks over 7.0 scoreless innings in an 11-1 win over Chattanooga on August 23.

Fenelon, 17, recorded a .361 on-base percentage and .490 slugging percentage for an .851 OPS in 13 games for the Rookie DSL Brewers Gold in August. Signed as a non-drafted free agent out of the Dominican Republic in January, Fenelon led the team in HR (3) and tied for the team lead in extra-base hits (6).

García, 17, posted a 2.70 ERA (10ip, 3er) with 9 strikeouts and a .194 opponent batting average (7-for-36) over 3 appearances (2 starts) for the Rookie DSL Brewers Gold in August. Signed as a non-drafted free agent out of Venezuela in January, García worked a career-high 4.0 scoreless and hitless innings with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts on August 11 at the DSL Dodgers Mega.
