MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Brewers have acquired right-handed pitcher Trevor Rosenthal from the San Francisco Giants in exchange for outfielder Tristan Peters. The announcement was made by President of Baseball Operations David Stearns.

Rosenthal, 32, has spent his eight-year Major League career with St. Louis (2012-17), Washington (2019), Detroit (2019), Kansas City (2020) and San Diego (2020), going 12-25 with a 3.36 ERA and 132 saves in 373 games. He signed a one-year contract with San Francisco on July 21 and is currently on the 15-day injured list with a strained left hamstring.

Rosenthal last pitched in 2020 with Kansas City and San Diego, going 1-0 with a 1.90 ERA and 11 saves in 23 games. He signed with Oakland prior to the 2021 season, but did not pitch due to injury.

Selected by St. Louis in the 21st round of the 2009 First-Year Player Draft out of Cowley (KS) Community College, Rosenthal ranked second in the National League and fourth in the majors with 45 saves in 2014. He was named an All-Star in 2015 and finished with a 2.10 ERA and a career-high 48 saves in 68 appearances for the Cardinals, ranking second in the majors in saves.

Peters, 22, was selected by Milwaukee in the seventh round of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft out of Southern Illinois University. He batted .306 with 7 HR and 51 RBI in 90 games for Class-A Wisconsin in 2022.

An updated 40-man roster can be found here.
