Milwaukee The popular “Brady Beach” street activation will be the site for a fundraising effort to aid the neighborhood school’s athletic program. On Thursday, August 24, between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. a $30 minimum donation will provide attendees with food, drinks, and tunes by DJ Marcus Doucette in a social setting while helping raise funds for the area’s neighborhood school.

The food and beverage will be donated by the caretakers of the seasonal outdoor event and dining space that inhabits a small portion of Warren Avenue—Club Brady and the Nomad World Pub. Also on hand will be representatives of Cass Street School to talk about the importance of a strong neighborhood school including school Principal, Tyrone Nichols.

“The Cass Street School community is very excited about this event as proceeds will be used to maintain and enhance critical athletic programs at Cass and offset the cost of league registration fees, uniforms and equipment,” explained Nichols. “We are so grateful for the reinvigorated community partnership with the Brady Street BID,” he continued.

Historic Brady Street has been enjoying a renaissance for more than two decades with a vibrant business district, year-round events, and a neighborhood boasting a truly unique mix of historic homes set between the Milwaukee River and the shores of Lake Michigan.

“This is such a great way to showcase how these activated public spaces can be used to help strengthen community, highlight local neighborhoods to visitors and bring people together while providing much needed funds for valuable institutions and causes,” said Mike Eitel, Nomad’s owner. The popular pilot program for activated streets started in 2020 in a partnership with the two adjacent taverns and the City of Milwaukee.
