Gathering Place Brewing Company will release The Wordsmith Wheat Wine Saturday, March 10th on draft and a limited number of bottles.
The Wordsmith is a wheat wine with a rusty crimson color and hints of white grapes, raspberry, peach, and gooseberry. The Wordsmith lays a foundation of balanced bready sweetness and cleansing bitterness followed with lyrics of soft, fruity hop flavors, finishing with a crescendo of moderate viscosity. 10.8% ABV 46 IBU.
“Many people are familiar with barley wine beers, but a wheat wine is less common,” said Head Brewer Corey Blodgett. “The main difference is that a wheat wine is made with at least 50% wheat malt.”
The Wordsmith is the second bottle release for Gathering Place. Four hundred 750 mL bottles will be available for sale for in the tap room beginning at 12 pm on the 10th. The bottles are $13 each with a limit of three per person. Wicked Urban Grill will be on hand providing food during the afternoon.
“We plan to do a different bottle release each quarter,” said Gathering Place founder Joe Yeado. “It’s an opportunity for us to stretch our creative wings and explore styles that will age and condition over time.”
