Being Aware and Prepared is the Best Course of Action
Statement from Alderman Alex Brower February 20, 2026
Some in the media have said that my statements about the status of ICE operations in Milwaukee have caused confusion. Let me be clear: whether a major ICE operation in Milwaukee is imminent or not, we need to be prepared. Our city will be better off for having organized and connected with our neighbors whether ICE launches a major operation here or not.
Our Milwaukee residents are already being affected by the brutal deportation policies of our current federal administration. In addition, according to a recent article in WIRED magazine dated February 10, 2026, ICE is expanding across the U.S. at an extremely rapid pace, and Milwaukee is one of the cities on their list. Additionally, we are all aware of a new ICE facility located at 11925 W. Lake Park Dr.From WIRED Magazine:
“In documents viewed by WIRED, ICE has repeatedly outlined its expansion to cities around the US. The September memorandum citing “unusual and compelling urgency” for office expansion states that OPLA will be “expanding its legal operations” into . . . Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The memorandum also states that the existing offices are at maximum capacity and will “require additional space” to accommodate the new employees hired.”
So in an effort to help avoid any further confusion, I would like to clearly iterate my stances on the matter and what I hope to accomplish.
I stand in opposition to mass deportations, unlawful abduction of residents, and the anti-immigrant policies of the current federal administration.
I support a humane and welcoming immigration policy here in the U.S. that honors the rights of immigrants and creates an easier path to citizenship for those already here.
I want ICE to be abolished. ICE is violating people’s constitutional rights, they have murdered and shot unarmed people, and have assaulted and arrested bystanders who were peaceful protestors and observers. The lack of accountability faced by ICE, combined with their inhumane actions is what is making those in our community, and communities across the country, fearful, unsafe, and enraged.
Some people refuse to accept the truth about what is happening around our country. I have heard the voices of our neighborhood and I know that District 3 residents care and want to stand up to help each other and those in our community. If we organize, everyone will be stronger and better able to take care of each other, and we need those helpers in place to start that work nowIf you want to join your District 3 neighbors and learn more about the ways you can help, please contact my office, subscribe to my e-notify, and follow along on social media for opportunities to be involved.
