Baldwin Brings Home $750,000 for Northeastern Wisconsin to Combat Fentanyl and Opioid Epidemic
Funding from Baldwin-written government funding bill supports rural communities, boosts funding for substance use disorder treatment and recovery services
MANITOWOC, WI – Today, U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) announced Core Treatment Services in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, is receiving $750,000 to help address the fentanyl and opioid epidemic. The funding will allow Core Treatment Services to expand its drug treatment and recovery programs, targeting rural areas that have high overdose rates and few treatment options. As Chair of the Appropriations Subcommittee that oversees the Department of Health and Human Services, Senator Baldwin wrote the government funding legislation that funds this program for Fiscal Year 2024.
The funding comes through the Rural Communities Opioid Response Program-Impact (RCORP-Impact), which aims to expand existing options for treatment and recovery services in rural communities. Core Treatment Services will utilize the funding to help Wisconsinites in Shawano, Menominee, Waupaca, Waushara, Green Lake, and Manitowoc counties. The funding will allow Core Treatment Services to establish and expand comprehensive substance use disorder treatment, boost services for justice-involved individuals, and strengthen the continuum of care.
