Andre Jacque Leaves District Void of Representation

MADISON, Wis –  After recent reporting that Senators Marklein, James, and Quinn had moved into the districts they currently represent in Madison, Senate District 1 is the only district in the state lacking representation, with no sitting state Senator residing within its boundaries.

“Senator Jacque was tasked with representing the people of the 1st District for a full four year term,” said Andrew Whitley, Executive Director of the Wisconsin State Senate Democratic Committee. “But unfortunately those constituents are being shortchanged. He should take note of the actions from his fellow Republican colleagues and follow the clear constitutional requirement that he reside in the district that elected him to serve or step aside. His constituents deserve as much.”

Andre Jacque was elected in 2022 to represent Senate District One but currently resides in De Pere and is represented by Democratic Senator Jamie Wall, from Senate District 30. Article four, section six of the Wisconsin Constitutions mandates that legislators reside in the districts they are elected to serve.
