Amber Danyus Announces Candidacy for Milwaukee Alderwoman in the 9th District
MILWAUKEE, WI — Educator Amber Danyus today announced that she is running to become the Alderwoman for Milwaukee’s 9th district.
Amber Danyus graduated from UW-Parkside with a degree in Communication before she moved to Milwaukee to serve with Teach For America. She became a special education teacher – impacting hundreds of students in MPS schools daily. She later graduated from Cardinal Stritch with a Masters in Urban Special Education. Amber now works with students at the Milwaukee Academy of Science, a public charter school serving over 1,200 K4-12th grade students from across the city.
Amber has worked with students and families of diverse backgrounds, and has learned firsthand the many barriers children and families are facing in the city of Milwaukee and specifically in the 9th district. These realities inspired Amber to run for Alderwoman to make a deeper community impact beyond the classroom.
“I am running to be the next Alderwoman for Milwaukee’s 9th District to inspire a collective sense of pride and ownership in our community and our city. I’m running to remind the folks in our district the power of collaboration and the tremendous impact we can have when we come together to solve our collective challenges.”
In addition to her work as an educator, Amber is a co-parent to her three year old son. They live on Milwaukee’s Northwest side and enjoy visiting Dretzka Park to run in the grassy fields while watching people play disc golf.
