Alderman Bob Donovan calls assault on MPS teacher disturbing, and calls for criminal charges
Alderman Bob Donovan reacts to MPS teacher assault
Alderman Bob Donovan says it wasn’t a great start to the school year at Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS). He calls the assault on the MPS teacher yesterday shocking, disgusting, and that it needs to be dealt with effectively and criminal charges are warranted. The assault on the teacher who was assaulted was caught on cell phone video by another student.
Alderman Donovan says, “Violence at MPS is a great concern to the community. Actions like this need criminal charges to send a message, and hold the student responsible for their reckless and dangerous behavior.”
Alderman Donovan went on to say the teacher is city tax-payer funded and that their safety and rights need to be defended in the classroom.
“I applaud the many great teachers and students at MPS, however, there is a segment of students who choose to behave inappropriately and criminally, which robs other students and teachers of an opportunity to build a safe learning environment.”
Alderman Donovan says it’s time to stand up for teachers’ safety in the classroom.
