African-American Attorneys Host Scholarship Dinner in Honor of Vel Phillips and Dale Phillips

The 28th Annual VelanDale Scholarship Dinner celebrates and honors the achievements of the late Vel Phillips and Dale Phillips, and the next generation of Wisconsin African-American Lawyers.

MILWAUKEE, WI, September 6, 2018 – The Wisconsin Association of African-American Lawyers (WAAL) will commemorate the contributions of Vel Phillips and her husband Dale Phillips as lawyers, public servants, activists, and trailblazers. Four African-American law students attending Marquette University Law School and the University of Wisconsin Law School will receive scholarship awards in honor of Vel and Dale Phillips, Chief Judge Maxine A. White, and Judge Charles N. Clevert, Jr. WAAL will also present a deserving African-American attorney with the WAAL Attorney of the Year Award.

April Miller Boise, SVP, Chief Legal Officer, & Corporate Secretary of Meritor, Inc., will serve as this year’s keynote speaker. Meritor, Inc. is a Fortune 500 company, and manufacturer of automobile components for military suppliers, trucks, and trailers.

The 28th Annual VelanDale Scholarship Dinner will take place on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at the Italian Community Center in Milwaukee, WI.
