10th District Washington Heights Resident Named Finalist for 2026 Good Food Awards

Statement from Alderwoman Sharlen Moore March 2, 2026

By - Mar 2nd, 2026 01:28 pm

The 10th District is filled with many tremendous entrepreneurs and small business owners who contribute to the vibrancy of our district and city. Anthony Scalabrino grew up with the taste of his grandmother Jennie‘s amaretto, a hand-crafted, all-natural Sicilian recipe passed down through generations. Today, that same recipe is bottled right here in Milwaukee, and the rest of the country is starting to take notice.

Anthony, a Washington Heights resident and disabled Navy veteran (pilot), left his corporate career in 2026 to bring Oak City Amaretto home to Milwaukee full-time. What started nearly 9 years ago in Raleigh, North Carolina (City of Oaks), has found its heart right here in our neighborhood, with production and bottling in Milwaukee since June 2025.

Oak City Amaretto has been named a 2026 Good Food Awards Finalist: one of the most respected honors in American craft food and beverage. Being named a finalist is no small feat, as finalists are selected through rigorous blind tastings and must meet strict environmental and social responsibility standards. I know I’ll be rooting for Anthony to make Milwaukee proud when the Good Food Awards are announced on June 27th, 2026.

This Milwaukee veteran and entrepreneur is putting our neighborhood on the map. One bottle at a time.
