The land was donated in the 1870s to the City of Milwaukee by Mayor Byron Kilbourn. Landscaping includes historic and native vegetation — trees, shrubs, and a mix of prairie grasses, sedges, and forbs Furnishings include Harp lights, ornamental fencing, waste receptacles, benches along pathways, and bike racks at park entrances.
