MILWAUKEE – Board Chairman Theodore Lipscomb, Sr., has made special arrangements to provide County Executive Chris Abele with an opportunity to present the details of his 2017 Recommended Budget to the County Board of Supervisors on October 3, 2016, at 3:00pm. County Executive Abele will present his Recommended Budget to the Committee of the Whole at 3:00pm on Monday at the Courthouse. “We look forward to the County Executive’s presentation of his Recommended Budget on Monday,” said Chairman Lipscomb. “The Board will review the Executive’s proposal, analyze its details and listen to our constituents throughout the month of October before adopting a budget in November.” County Executive Abele has had a nearly year to work on this proposal before revealing the details of his budget recommendations to the public. The County Board will devote the next five weeks to analyzing the recommendations of the County Executive, so that a budget can be adopted at the Board’s November 7 meeting. The Finance and Audit Committee, led by Chair Peggy A. West, has set aside numerous days of open meetings in October to gather information from department heads, to get the public’s reaction to the Executive’s recommended actions, and to adopt budget amendments. The Finance and Audit Committee will hold a public hearing in the community on Tuesday, October 18, at 9:00am at the Milwaukee Public Schools administration building, 5225 W. Vliet St. in Milwaukee. The County Board has also scheduled a public hearing to listen as constituents weigh in with their concerns and priorities for the 2017 Milwaukee County budget. The full County Board will hold a public hearing on Monday, October 31, at 6:00pm, at the Marcus Center, 929 N. Water St., in downtown Milwaukee. Members of the public are encouraged to attend these public hearings and bring their questions, concerns, and priorities directly to their County Board Supervisor.
