In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Sphinx Organization, the exciting program, Concerti per Venti, offers a collection of concerti through the ages, performed by the 18-piece, self-conducted Sphinx Virtuosi, America’s only all Black-Latino string orchestra. From Baroque to modern day, the program showcases a tremendous variety in languages and styles. Repertoire will include the newly commissioned Guardian of the Horizon: Concerto Grosso for Violin, Cello, and Strings by award-winning composer Jimmy Lopez, Delights and Dances for string quartet and string orchestra by Michael Abels, Beethoven’s timeless Grosse Fuge, and Concerto Grosso by Vaughan Williams.
