April 15, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
$10 - $15Event Navigation
Join Anodyne for an evening of live music featuring Big Dopes (on tour from Colorado), The Nile Club and Maybe Hazel!
Big Dopes recalls the loose, lighthearted feel of 90s alternative and indie pop, with influences somewhere between Paul Simon, Jonathan Richman, and Pavement. Lead songwriter Eddie Schmid uses a playful, conversational baritone to sing through neuroses and inner dialogues, touching on long-distance relationships, being a houseguest, and gratitude for friends named Tom.
The Nile Club is a band who writes and self records music for all. Named after an abandoned pyramid-shaped nightclub in Wisconsin, they deliver a noisy and chaotic take on indie music. “Wake Up With a Sense of Pride” coming 2023.
Maybe Hazel is an alternative band by day/trivia group by night from Milwaukee, WI whose members met on Craigslist. With an ear for current DIY trailblazers and a fondness for the indie-pop of the early 2010s, the group boasts a unique blend of genres in their debut release “Direct to Home Video.” The EP is a hooky magnum opus featuring lead single “Fist Fight,” which Ben Slowey of Breaking and Entering deemed a “total pop banger for the beach.” The band has been on record to have accepted the compliment.
Tickets to the show are $10 in advance or $15 the day of the show. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m.
