Man accused in Milwaukee immigration attorney’s death arrested in Kentucky

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — A Milwaukee man charged in the fatal shooting of a well-known immigration lawyer, Jason Cleereman, has been arrested in Kentucky — according to court documents from the Hardin County Detention Center. Cleereman was shot and killed on Sept. 22, 2020, following an altercation with a man on a bike — now identified by authorities as Edgecomb — near Holton and Brady Streets. Officials were looking for Edgecomb, now 31, since the shooting. According to court documents, Edgecomb was arrested on Thursday, March 4, in Radcliff, Kentucky. He’s being held at the Hardin County Detention Center on pending charges of driving under the influence, speeding, giving false identifying information, and possession of marijuana. Cleereman was a board member and former president of the Southside Organizing Center and helped organize the Walker Square Farmers’ Market. His law firm worked to support families through the immigration process. At this time, the Milwaukee Police Department said it is unknown when he will be extradited.
