Because the Board acts somewhat like a court, it is called a quasi-judicial body and is required to follow accepted procedures and to fairly evaluate the relevant facts in each case that comes before it. As labor markets tighten, Milwaukee’s teens are not being prepared to successfully transition out of high school and into the workforce. Low skill-levels and high unemployment stand in the way of even the best students. ArtWorks for Milwaukee, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that hires and pays an hourly wage to teams of teenage apprentices for each of its programs, who work with a local, professional Lead Artists to create visual, literary, and mixed media art projects. This collaboration uses an art project- complete with a budget, deadlines, and performance reviews- to teach valuable job and life skills to teenagers that need it most. All of our programming promotes teamwork, tolerance for diversity, project management, and prepares young people to successfully enter the workforce in any industry. Can you think of someone who helped you prepare for your career? Now’s your chance to help the next generation! The goal of this event is to raise the funds needed to support ArtWorks’ 2011 programming. With your help, we can reach our goal to raise enough money to add an additional program session next year to train even more underserved teens. The need for our services is increasing.
