International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Council 7 Endorses Judge Pedro Colón for Wisconsin Supreme Court
MILWAUKEE – The International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Council 7 (IUPAT DC7) endorses Pedro Colón for Wisconsin Supreme Court.
“Our members spend years in apprenticeship learning their craft the right way, safely and with skill,” said IUPAT DC7 business Manager Jeff Mehrhoff. “Pedro respects that kind of hard work. That’s the kind of understanding we want on the Supreme Court, and it’s why IUPAT DC7 is proud to stand behind Pedro Colón.”
“The hardworking members of IUPAT DC7 build, finish, and shape the communities we all share,” said Judge Pedro Colón. “Having toured their training facility earlier this year, I was profoundly inspired to see firsthand how they empower working people to master a craft and build careers that sustain their families. I am deeply humbled by their support.”
IUPAT District Council 7 and its 2,400+ members join a coalition of 130 judges and elected officials around the state to support Colón’s candidacy for the Supreme Court.
Judge Pedro Colón is a graduate of Marquette University and the University of Wisconsin Law School. He was the first Latino ever elected to the Wisconsin Legislature, representing Milwaukee in the State Assembly from 1999 to 2010. He was appointed by Governor Jim Doyle to the Milwaukee County Circuit Court in 2010, where he served for 13 years. In 2023, he was appointed to the Wisconsin Court of Appeals by Governor Tony Evers, becoming the first Latino to serve on our state’s appellate court. Colón and his wife, Betty, live on Milwaukee’s south side and have two daughters.
The Wisconsin Supreme Court general election will be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2027, with a primary on February 16, 2027, if necessary. For more about Judge Pedro Colón and his campaign, visit www.pedrocolon.com. A headshot of Judge Colón can be downloaded here.
