Wisconsin Conservation Voters Launches 25k-Door Canvass to Fight Rising We Energies Bills

MADISON – Building on a successful digital campaign, Wisconsin Conservation Voters announced today a door-to-door canvassing effort across southeast Wisconsin.

Starting this week, organizers will knock on 25,000 doors in southeast Wisconsin to talk with We Energies ratepayers about rising utility costs and community action.

The effort is backed by a new $230,000 investment, building on an initial $80,000 digital ad campaign, “Tell We Energies to Take a Hike.” That digital campaign sent hundreds of messages from ratepayers directly to We Energies CEO Scott Lauber. Now, the campaign is moving to front porches.

“We’ve seen just how motivated ratepayers who have had enough of rising bills are,” said Deputy Director Seth Hoffmeister. “They’re sick of We Energies using rate hikes to pay for new dirty and expensive gas power plants and corporate greed. Canvassing allows us to meet people where they live and turn their frustration into a unified voice for utility accountability.”

Canvassers will hear from people about how rising energy bills are impacting them, share solutions for cleaner and more affordable energy, and ask ratepayers to send a message to We Energies.
