Lakefront Brewery Partners With Sil’s Mini Donuts to Produce a State Fair Exclusive Mini Donut Ale
MILWAUKEE – Lakefront Brewery and Sil’s Mini Donuts have teamed up to create Sil’s Mini Donut Ale, a Wisconsin State Fair exclusive beer inspired by one of the fair’s most quintessential treats. Available only during this year’s State Fair, the collaboration ale pairs perfectly with a fresh bag of Sil’s famous mini donuts.
Named after his daughter, Sil, Lars Wicklund started his mini donut mission at 7 Mile Fair nearly 30 years ago. Known for their famed donut stand formerly located off the corner of Milwaukee’s North and Oakland Avenues, Sil’s has grown to become a staple at some of Wisconsin’s largest and most prestigious events. Lakefront Brewery approached Lars and his business partner Susan, looking to create an exclusive beer that spoke to the spirit of the State Fair, honoring the traditions and flavors of America’s Dairyland.
“Lakefront Brewery’s idea to create a Sil’s Mini Donut-inspired beer is an unexpected opportunity, and we are honored to be involved,” says Lars Wicklund, Founder of Sil’s. “It is especially meaningful that this collaboration of Milwaukee mainstays will be featured at the Wisconsin State Fair.”
Brewed with Munich and caramel malts, plus subtle additions of cinnamon and vanilla, the 5.3% ABV ale captures that tasty flavor of a cinnamon sugar treat straight from one of Sil’s donut stands. Lakefront and Sil’s invite fairgoers to complete the Donut & Draft Fair Pair—grab a bag of fresh mini donuts and a pint of Sil’s Mini Donut Ale to enjoy together. To make the pilgrimage easier, Lakefront has created a map showing the quickest route between the two.
During the fair, Sil’s Mini Donut Ale will be available exclusively at Benno’s Lakefront Brewery Biergarten and The Micro. “The Wisconsin State Fair is one of our favorite traditions, and we’re lucky to have it right in our backyard,” says Russ Klisch, Lakefront Brewery Owner. “Partnering with Sil’s and Benno’s to create something that’s available only at the fair makes this beer even more special.”
The Wisconsin State Fair runs from August 6-16, with the beer available while supplies last.
