MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers also announced today his appointment of Jeremy Guza to the Waukesha County Circuit Court – Branch 3. The appointment will fill the vacancy being created by Judge Ralph M. Ramirez’s retirement. Guza will complete a term ending July 31, 2027.

“As a veteran and a defense lawyer, Jeremy Guza has a deep commitment to service and protecting our constitutional rights, both of which will serve the people of Waukesha County well,” said Gov. Evers.

Since 2014, Guza has owned and operated Guza Law Office LLC, a criminal defense and family law firm representing clients across Southeast Wisconsin. From 2017 to 2020, he also worked for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs as a veterans’ service representative, where he evaluated eligibility for veterans’ disability benefits. Prior to his legal career, Guza served in the Wisconsin Army National Guard for seven years. He was deployed to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2004 to 2005.

Guza lives in Sussex with his family and is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin–Platteville and Marquette University Law School. In the community, he is a member of the Sussex Lions Club and helped form the nonprofit organization ATV 4 Vets in Western Wisconsin that helps connect veterans to outdoor recreational opportunities.

“I am honored to accept this appointment from Gov. Evers and grateful for the opportunity to further serve the people of Waukesha County,” said Guza. “My life and career have been shaped by service, hard work, and respect for the rule of law. As the son of a farmer, an Iraq War veteran and former member of the Wisconsin Army National Guard, a small-business owner, and an attorney who has spent his career in the courtroom, I understand the responsibility that comes with this role. I look forward to carrying out this responsibility with diligence, humility, and respect for the Constitution and the rule of law. Finally, I want to thank my family, friends, colleagues, mentors, and everyone who has supported and encouraged me throughout my life and career.”
