‘WISN 12 Day of Giving’ Campaign to Collect Books for Area Kids
WISN 12 fundraising initiative to support the non-profit organization ‘Next Door’ and promote reading among local children
MILWAUKEE, WI – The ‘WISN 12 Day of Giving’ campaign in July will provide books for children throughout the Milwaukee community. The latest fundraising effort supports the ‘Books for Kids’ program from Next Door, a local non-profit organization. WISN 12 viewers can make monetary donations by visiting www.wisn.com/giving, or by calling into a phone bank on Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Financial contributions up to $10,000 are also being matched by WE Energies Foundation.
In addition, books can be dropped off at Steinhafels locations throughout Southeastern Wisconsin, from Thursday, July 2, 2026 – Thursday, July 16, 2026:
· Grafton – 1048 N Port Washington Rd, Grafton, WI 53024
· Greenfield – 8880 W Sura Ln, Greenfield, WI 53228
· Menomonee Falls – N93 Falls Pkwy, Menomonee Falls, WI 53051
· Oak Creek – 9191 S 13th St, Oak Creek, WI 53154
· Waukesha – W231 County Hwy-F #W231, Waukesha, WI 53186
“There’s no better time than summer break for our kids to open up a book,” says Shawn Oswald, president and general manager of WISN 12. “We know that Southeastern Wisconsin will come together to help children unlock new worlds, exciting ideas, and life lessons through reading.”
For over 35 years, Next Door’s ‘Books for Kids’ program has helped area children and their families build at-home libraries. For book donations, the high-demand books include board/picture books, multicultural/multilingual books, and social-emotional themed books. While books for all grade levels are appreciated, Next Door is especially seeking books geared toward children between 0-5 years old.
This collaboration with Next Door is the latest fundraising effort in the ‘WISN 12 Day of Giving’ initiative. The ongoing campaign features a different non-profit each month to help advance its mission, pursue its goals, and most importantly, improve people’s lives. This initiative aims to promote the power of community through the power of giving.
