Tom Tiffany Applauds Supreme Court Ruling Protecting Girls’Sports
WAUSAU, WI – Tom Tiffany, candidate for Governor of Wisconsin, released the following statement after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that states may prohibit biological males from competing in girls’ and women’s sports.
“It’s common sense that biological males should not compete in girls’ and women’s sports. Every female athlete deserves a level playing field and the opportunity to compete safely and fairly. Unfortunately, Governor Evers vetoed legislation that would have protected girls’ sports in Wisconsin. As governor, I will sign legislation ensuring that biological males cannot compete in girls’ and women’s sports in our state,” said Tom Tiffany.
Governor Tony Evers vetoed AB 100, which would have applied to K-12 schools, and AB 102, which would have applied to colleges and universities, preventing Wisconsin from adopting protections for girls’ and women’s sports.
Several Democratic candidates for governor, including Francesca Hong, Kelda Roys, and Sara Rodriguez, voted against legislation to protect girls’ sports while serving in the Legislature. As governor, Tom Tiffany will sign legislation protecting girls’ and women’s sports to ensure fairness, safety, and equal opportunities for female athletes.
